Our mission is to restore medical professionalism and help needy individuals get the care they need; Facilitate physicians in providing coordinated, patient-centered care and Educate people to become smart consumers within the complex healthcare system.
We aspire to build a broad network of volunteer physicians, improve the level of health literacy in the local community and make sharing of health information secure and easy by widespread use of a "Health Record Bank" by community physicians and general public.
No single person, at the mercy of financial implausibility, should ever be denied quality, compassionate health care under any circumstances.
More about the Physicians Circle for Patients
Medicine is a noble profession and one chooses this profession as one is drawn to a life of service to others. Outside forces such as declining reimbursement by both public and private insurance companies are forcing physicians to become more concerned with the business aspect of their practices, and less focused on actual patient care. Physician burn-out is on the rise and many medical professionals no longer feel professional fulfillment. The sacred places where patients were once truly cared for are now being turned into “profit centers”. Patients are being seen more as consumers and their best interest is not being safeguarded. Our patients need guidance; they need help and we strongly believe that physicians are the best advocates for them.
Georgia has the sixth highest number of uninsured persons with 20% of its population currently uninsured. Many people are surprised to learn that a whopping 35% of the Athens population is living in poverty. A high population of poor and uninsured persons combined with a healthcare system that does not work for low-income families calls for action! The Physicians Circle for Patients (PCP) is responding to this need. PCP is on a mission to restore medical professionalism and a sense of service by helping physicians to provide high quality free healthcare services to these financially distressed individuals in our community. In cooperation with the Georgia Volunteer Health Care Program, PCP is helping physicians to easily give back to their communities and provide desperately wanted healthcare to needy individuals.
PCP was born out of Dr. Subodh K. Agrawal's life long dream to make the world better and beautiful. Joined by other fellow physicians, PCP was founded.
If you want to give back to community and help people but you are concerned about the red-tape and liability issues, PCP is a fresh, new and welcome option.
